Joe Judge

My mission is to provide progressive leadership promoting improved quality of life for all citizens of Mount Carmel in a fiscally responsible manner, to update our comprehensive plan to encourage economic growth, and have a transparent local government.

A little about my background, I was elected for my first term as commissioner in 2011. I selected Streets, Cemetery and Parks for that term. I was elected for a second term as commissioner in 2015. I selected Finance and Senior Citizens for that term. I was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission in 2015. I ran and was elected mayor in April of 2019. I was appointed as a board member for Illinois Municipal League in the fall of 2019.

Major Activities of this department:

• The mayor appoints numerous officials and staff including the Police Chief, City Administrator, City Inspector, Treasurer, as well as members of city boards and commissions, all with the approval of the city council.
• Represents the City on intergovernmental boards.
• Chairs City Council Meetings.
• Serves as Liquor Commissioner.
• Works with City Council to plan and implement city goals, plans, standards and policies.
• Establish long-term goals for the City. 
• Represents the City in various intergovernmental activities.
