When does the City spray for mosquitos?
The Summer Mosquito Treatments for mosquitos generally starts in mid May and continues through late October. When the air temperature falls below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, mosquitos are no longer active.
City personnel also apply chemicals (larvaeciding) to known breeding areas to kill the larvae or eggs which has proven to be a more effective means of combating mosquitos.
Please remember to drain any areas with standing water to help alleviate the mosquito problem.
Normal schedules are as follows:
- The West Side of the city will be sprayed on Sunday
- Subdivisions of the city will be sprayed on Monday and Tuesday
- East Side of the city will be sprayed Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
- Spraying is not done on rainy days and/or on extremely windy days.
